Brian D. Peterson, MD
FRCSC, FACS
Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Brian D. Peterson received his B.S. in anatomy from the University of Saskatchewan, followed by his Doctor of Medicine, graduating with Distinction in 1984. A rotating internship at the Royal Columbia Hospital in New Westminster completed his basic medical training.
From 1986 to 1991, Dr. Peterson completed resident training in Plastic Surgery at the University of British Columbia. After successfully completing his specialty exams with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, he undertook additional advanced fellowship training in the United States focusing on aesthetic cosmetic surgery.
Upon completion of his fellowship training in Breast and Aesthetic surgery in 1992, Dr. Peterson entered practice in Kelowna. The primary focus of his practice is aesthetic cosmetic plastic surgery. He performs in the range of 500 cosmetic surgical procedures each year, and is considered to be an expert in the field of cosmetic surgery lecturing internationally. The Okanagan Plastic Surgery Centre was created by Dr. Peterson to allow him to provide an environment of excellence dedicated to cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Peterson is a member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Canadian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as holding memberships in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Peterson is the Medical Director of the Okanagan Health Surgical Cantre, and has full consulting and surgical privileges at Kelowna General Hospital.
Mickie Hostland, MOA
Mickie Hostland, MOA, received her program certification as a fully qualified Medical Office Assistant from Vancouver Community College in 1984. She has past experience as a patient care coordinator for a Radiologist’s Group, and as a Hospital Unit Clerk and Admitting Clerk.
Her family moved to Kelowna in 1997, and shortly thereafter began her current 8 year tenure as Dr. Brian Peterson’s Patient Care Coordinator. In this time, Mickie has gained an extensive knowledge of Plastic Surgery with respect to all types of cosmetic procedures. Mickie is a Member of the Association of Plastic Surgery Assistants, and has kept up on new cosmetic surgery techniques by attending numerous Plastic Surgery conferences. So, if you have any questions regarding the many different cosmetic procedures, or simply what to expect following surgery, don’t hesitate to give her a call.
Patti Benjamin, MOA
Patti Benjamin, MOA, received her certification in Office Administration/Medical Secretary programs from Okanagan College in 1993. She has past experience as a Hospital Admitting Clerk and most recently in Heath Information Services at the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior.
Patti has been in Kelowna for the past 10 years and has joined Dr. Peterson’s practice as an additional Patient Care Coordinator in November of 2007. Patti has knowledge of all types of cosmetic procedures and patient follow up care.

Established in 1996, the Okanagan Plastic Surgery Centre is a private surgical facility providing non-hospital surgical services for residents of the Interior of British Columbia.

The Okanagan Plastic Surgery Centre was established in Kelowna, the largest city in the interior of British Columbia. About the Surgical Facilities
The Okanagan Plastic Surgery Centre is a world away from the environment of a traditional hospital. The windows in our tastefully decorated office offer a spectacular view of Kelowna, the Okanagan Lake, and the surrounding mountains. Staffed with expert personnel and properly equipped, we assist our patients with their cosmetic needs in a professional, confidential, and caring manner.
Our state-of-the-art operating rooms are equipped for all cosmetic surgical procedures. The facilities are fully accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia and the accreditation committee concluded that these facilities are excellent.
Full anaesthetic care is available, with options including general and regional anaesthesia, monitored sedation, as well as local anaesthesia. Anaesthetic services are provided by board-certified anaesthesiologists and are tailored to meet the needs of the individual to ensure safety and the best possible surgical experience.
Our office recovery room is fully equipped with automated electronic monitoring and staffed with highly qualified registered nurses to ensure a safe and comfortable post-anaesthetic period.
